BROWNIE

What a happy smile! Brownie is determined that you will notice him. He is friendly and seeks attention, scratches and compliments. And what a handsome coat: a deep brindle of black with bits of golden-brown.  He’s a year old Labrador retiever/Akita mix.
Brownie knows sit, down and shake. He really enjoys riding in the car, so rides could be just one more place to enjoy his companionship.
Brownie needs lots of exercise and might do well as a companion for your exercise like long walks or running. He especially loves women and would need a home with grownups or older children. He enjoys other dogs but cats are better for him to admire at a distance. Come meet hi today at Animal Friends!

Porsche Museum

The Porsche Museum in Stuttgart Germany will be celebrating a very special anniversary this year: It was exactly 60 years ago, in the autumn of 1950, that the first Porsche 356 models were shipped to the USA. Since then, what was at that time just a small sports car manufacturer, has gone on to capture the hearts of American sports drivers – and a good number of Hollywood stars as well. From October 12, 2010 to January 9, 2011 the Porsche Museum will be celebrating the presence of Porsche on the world’s largest and most important automobile market with this special exhibition, a presence which for six decades has been steadily growing. As part of this, visitors will be able to see the most interesting Porsche series for the American market, among them the prototype of the Porsche 356 Speedster, the rare 356 America Roadster, and the legendary 550 Spyder.

WILLY

When you first meet me, you’d better brace yourself because you’re about to experience a big surge of love! I’m Willy, a big friendly 4 year old St. Bernard who’s looking for someone to help me become a better dog.

I’ll get the bad news out of the way first: I’m very clingy! I’ve been left by different people and returned so many times that I don’t know what to do! I’m afraid that anytime you leave me you won’t come back! I’m also a big galoot who doesn’t know his own size. So while I love kids, I do best with older children that I won’t accidentally knock over with my size! I still mouth a little bit when I get excited so I do need plenty of training as well.

The good news: I’m very affectionate and love all kinds of people. I don’t tear things up in the house and I love going for a ride in the car (if I can fit inside it!). I like other dogs and would do great with someone to help show me the ropes. Do you have enough room in your family for me? Come meet me today At Animal Friends!

Canon Ball Race Finish Line!

On Sunday September 25th after 3294 miles the riders crossed the finish line at the Santa Monica Pier.  In case your still not aware of this awesome race we’ll give you a quick run down of what went on and how the “Canon Ball” was started.
Erwin G. “Cannon Ball” Baker started to race motorcycles in 1908. He was famous for making 143 motorcycle rides across the United States totaling about 5,500,000 miles.  It took him 14 days to get from one coast to another on an Indian Motorcycle in 1914.
Today in 2010 over 70 contestants on 1915 and earlier motorcycles rode straight for 14 days on these bikes from North Carolina to California.  A few of our very own Garage-Girls were part of this event; Team Effie. piloted by Cris Sommer Simmons with a crew of Athena Ransom of Vagabond Choppers, Laura Klock of Klock Werks and Toast Boyd a member of the Motor Maids. These girls endured hour after hour of riding along the roads of America and helping not only maintain Effie, Cris’s bike but other riders as well.  We are so proud of them all and excited about this amazing historic event. Remember life is all about getting out there and living it, so one day we can pass on our memories to others as we relive them in our mind. These girls will never forget this event along with all of the other participants. Congratulations to you all!~
