The Limpnickie Lot Footprint takes on a personal challenge in Sturgis

At every rally, the Limpnickie Lot leaves their footprint within the community, this year the goal will be to find a match for Aidan Seegar. Bobby and Elisa’s son Aidan has been diagnosed with a rare brain disease called Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD). Aidan is a beautiful 6 year old boy with huge blue eyes and a smile that is contagious. He is full of personality and laughter. He is in dire need of a bone marrow donor. You may know Aidans parents who run Indian Larry Legacy out of Brooklyn New York. The family is close to everyone at Limpnickie, Cycle Source magazine and us here at Garage-Girls. When something like this hits close to home, the only thing you can do is step up.

The Limpnickie Lot is proud to announce a marrow drive that will be taking place at the Lot, located inside the Buffalo Chip with the help of   Be the Match Foundation* . They will be on location from Monday the 8th till Thursday the 10th.  They are asking that donations be made to help Be the Match* defer the cost of processing every test.  Please take a moment and help out a family in need.

If you are not attending the rally and want to find out if you are the match, please go to www.marrow.org and look for a drive or center near you. You can also request a mail-in kit, which is a painless cheek swab exam. This will put you in the marrow bank to not only help Aidan but potentially anyone else down the road with a similar situation. So please do not hesitate and get on board today.

We believe there is a match out there for Aidan, please find out if it’s you!

Winners get “Hooked Up” at the Garage-Girls Ultimate Biker Makeover, Carlisle Edition brought to you by GEICO powersports.

After a month of public voting the 2 winners of the Garage-Girls Ultimate Biker Makeover finally claimed their prizes during Carlisle Bike Fest. In Carlisle PA July 23rd 2011.  Talk about a fun filled day!  Everyone knows as we get older it’s more fun to give than to receive and let me tell you myself, Crystal and Millicent had a blast watching the winners Mary and Pat  take in all the prizes they had just won.  The weekend was brutal hot, temps over 100 but that didn’t stop us all from having a good time and enjoying each others company.  This is our 3rd year doing the Ultimate Biker Makeover and every year each winner has been just amazing! All of us here at Garage-Girls consider ourselves so lucky to meet and spend the day with these wonderful people.
As you all know we asked Contestants (guys and girls) to submit a 600 words or less essay – describing why they are most in need of a biker makeover by May 10, 2011. Submissions were narrowed down to the final four by selected judges from Garage-Girls and Carlisle Events. The final 4 were then placed on Garage-girls.com for the public to vote for who they felt most deserved the Ultimate Biker Makeover.  Runner up Mary Pinkerton shared her story of experiencing the loss of her mother and then being informed she was diabetic. After focusing on her health and making changes to her new condition she has found herself many pounds lighter and with riding gear that no longer fits her properly.  Grand Prize Winner Pat Henderson shared her story of continually making self-sacrifices to provide her children with all she could, which included giving up her motorcycle. With her children grown she is asking for help in fulfilling her dreams of getting back out on the road.
Mary and Pat were both treated to a fun filled day at Carlisle Bike Fest.  Each receiving all-new gear and accessories including a new riding jacket from HOT LEATHERS, riding gloves and helmet by Z1R, riding boots by HARLEY-DAVIDSON FOOTWEAR, riding glasses from 7 EYE, clothing by REBEL GIRL, a $50 gift certificate to OTTERBOX.com, a cool kit filled with cleaning supplies by WIZARDS PRODUCTS, and each a case of full synthetic oil by SPECTRO OILS. Pat, the grand-prize winner, also received accessories for her motorcycle including a new seat by MUSTANG SEATS, a set of tires by AVON TYRES, a set of fork springs by PROGRESSIVE SUSPENSION, and lots of chrome goodies by KURYAKYN including grips, hiway pegs, chrome accents, the sound of chrome speakers and a tour pack luggage bag.  GEICO Insurance the presenting sponsor surprised Mary the runner up with a $200 gas gift card since she trekked all the way from Houston Texas!  The retail value of the prizes for Mary, the runner up was $1,034.95 and for grand prizewinner Pat,  $2,746.62!   Can you imagine scoring all of that!   Stay tuned to Garage-Girls for next years contest, this could be you!

The 2nd Annual Jedediah Thomas Smith Memorial Luncheon is quickly approaching!

For those of you who have been with Garage-Girls for a while, you will remember our first years Ultimate Biker Makeover’s winner Kristin Buckley.  Her story of why she needed a biker makeover was very compelling to us and hit home with all of our readers. Kristin had been helping her son Jed fight childhood cancer for 11 years.  Sadly Jed passed 2 years ago and Kristin is still fighting to keep a cure on the horizon for children everywhere fighting childhood cancer in Jed’s memory.
We wanted to share this info about the memorial luncheon in Jed’s memory, if you are in the Eastern PA area, maybe you could stop by and support! If you are not in that area perhaps you would like to donate.
The 2nd Annual Jedediah Thomas Smith Memorial Luncheon event will be held Saturday, August 27th from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the Great American Saloon in Red Lion, Pennsylvania. Featuring buffet style casual fare, cash bar, live music, homemade baked goods, as well as a large raffle and silent auction, all proceeds benefit the Jedediah Thomas Smith Foundation to raise funds and awareness towards the fight against childhood cancer.

Donations are still needed for the silent auction and raffle for the luncheon! To donate, please contact the Jedediah Thomas Smith Foundation at jtsfoundation@gmail.com.   Join us in the fight against childhood cancer and make a difference in the life of a child!
