Dennis Hopper, one of our favorites gets Hollywood Walk of Fame Star

 Dennis Hopper attended the dedication of his star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame on Friday March 26th, but it might be the last time his fans see the actor alive.
Hopper, whose acting career spanned almost six decades, is dying of prostate cancer, according to documents filed in his divorce case this week.
His breakout role was in 1969, with the movie “Easy Rider,” but his career began in the 1950s with live TV and co-starring roles in two films with James Dean. He was twice nominated for Oscars. Hopper, 73, is undergoing radical chemotherapy for advanced, metastasized prostate cancer, his doctor said.
He is too weak and ill to be questioned by lawyers in the divorce, but attending Friday’s ceremony “is a positive experience in every way,” his doctor’s sworn statement said.
“I believe the ceremony honoring his career may be something which he will actually enjoy in the company of his daughter, who he hopes will attend with him,” Dr. David Argus said.
Hopper, who weighs “a little over 100 pounds,” is “extremely weak and extremely ill, and he tires very quickly.”
 Hopper became a Hollywood sensation for “Easy Rider,” the 1969 film he directed and co-wrote in which he played a dissolute, countercultural biker named Billy. Some of Hoppers lines from that movie have become religious quotes for many riders including us. Lines like “The man is at the window, the man is at the window” and “Getting pretty smashed man”, and of course “Hey, man. All we represent to them, man, is somebody who needs a haircut. “
 We will be keeping Dennis Hopper in our thoughts and prayers… man…….

Remember Me

This movie looked like a total chick flick, but we figured what the hell, a good ole’ sappy love movie is ok once in a while.  The movie is based around 2 main characters and the tragedy in their lives. Robert Pattinson who plays Tyler Hawkins a young college aged kid searching for what it is he wants in his life after dealing with the tragic suicide death of his brother just a few years ago and Aly played by Emilie de Ravin who is a young focused college student who also has her own tragedy to deal with as her mom was murdered in front of her 10 years ago.  The two find their way into each others lives and the film shows the transformation they both undergo as they begin to fall in love.  While Tyler and Aly are falling in love the movie is a little slow going, and takes you through different struggles of each character dealing with their their own family tragedy.  We give props to both Robert and Emilie for their convincing roles and all other supporting actors in this film.  Now what really turned things around for us was the ending, and as much as we’d love to talk about it, we just don’t see it fair to ruin it for you…..  The ending of this film will leave you with your draw dropped wide open and we thought it really put things into perspective.  We think you’ll leave remembering things you may have forgotten about.

For that we give this movie 4 spark plugs………..  go check it out!

Mass. Tattoo & Art Festival. by Angela Arpin, images by Jolene Perry

Once again tattoo artists from all over the country descended upon the Sturbridge Host Hotel for the annual MA Tattoo & Art Festival. Whether you wanted to get a body piercing, a tattoo, or just take in the sights-this event was nothing less than a sensory overload; from the music, to the artwork, to the entertainment-in my opinion, was more than worth the cost of admission.
A wide array of vendors had their booths set up with merchandise that was just as diverse and eclectic as the tattoos that were being given; original artwork which entailed anything from a framed picture, to stencil drawings, to figurines that were made up entirely of tattoo instrument devices. There was something for everyone.
If you were not fixated with the dozen or so hand painted devil masks, or the seemingly innocent appearing (until closer inspection) wall of onesies , you most certainly would have been fixated after being drawn to the entertainment. Which brings me to, (in my opinion)-the highlight of the event. The “Lucky Dare Devil ThrillShow”.
The beautiful and mesmerizing “Dominatrix of Danger” Thrill Kill Jill, and the very charismatic ringmaster Tyler Frye, had the undivided attention of the crowd from the beginning until the very end of their stage show. To say that they had captivated the audience,(myself included)-would be an understatement.
This show is definitely something that would need to be experienced firsthand, no words could do it justice-however, I will give you a glimpse into the gut-wrenching, heart-stopping world that is the “Lucky Daredevil ThrillShow”: sword swallowing, knife throwing, chainsaws, contortions, snake charming, audience participation in the assistance of a stunt, etc.- all intermingled with clever and comedic  intros.
I highly recommend  attending any event which has the “Lucky Daredevil Thrillshow”as the entertainment. Without a doubt, I give this event a 5 spark plug rating!

“Average Joe Complacency Syndrome” by: Angela Arpin

Pseudo intellectuals and misinformed observers,you are all just baby birds with your beaks wide open, longing to be fed regurgitated psycho babble.
“Supposed” misunderstood emotional vagrants.
Partly out of boredom,I have decided to coin a new term in psychology~but I will get to that in a moment. Freud I am not~however,I do not need to snort a line
or two of coke to have an understanding of the world.
Personally, I think that society puts too much stock into diagnoses and disorders. In the sense that,the labeling as “disorders” is completely assuming,i.e. under the assumption and above the suspicion that the order is entirely intact,and hasnt segmented into other “disorders.” I see many flaws in the social model-def:(systemic barriers, negative attitudes and exclusion by society (purposely or inadvertently)are the ultimate factors defining who is disabled and who is not in a particular society)and who thrives upon it.
Now for the long awaited revelation. New term:”Average Joe Complacency Syndrome”-an accute case of dementia attributed to a failure to understand
oneself and others. Disabling emotive capacity and replacing it with complacency and confusion,resulting in a loss of internal drive and self awareness. Also known as the “Mediocracy Syndrome”(another term I’ve coined,which personally~I would rather die than suffer from).
Subjects with said disorder(s) are known to often lack ethics due to greed and insecurity. Subjects often discredit relativity and perspectivism or social compromise, due to hypocracy and the failure to observe themselves and their surroundings. Failure to see that they are,for lack of a better way to phrase it-(insert expletive of choice here) morons.
“Symptoms” include:fear of aging, unquenched thirst for power, addiction, social hierarchy,homophobia,ostracism,loss of motivation, heightened faith in religion,and not taking responsibility for their own actions.
This disorder often leads to self destructive behavior,(after their “illness” destroys everyone around them that is)-which is why I believe arrogant (again insert expletive of your choice) shall one day (directly or indirectly) end the world. (which I still havent decided would necessarily be a “bad” thing).
So basically what I’m saying is,”Joe Schmo”(a guy that I am sure you know)-that joyfully chugs his beers in his stained white wife beater shirt,that verbally and/or physically abuses his wife and/or girlfriend,is a homophobe, believes that a womans place is in the kitchen,is starved for power,doesnt strive to make improvements to his life,believes everything he hears on the news, etc. will be the downfall of civilization as we know it.

Ovarian Cancer Whispers – so listen carefully

Be aware, spread the news with all those you care about.

Watch for Pelvic or abdominal pain or discomfort;
vague but persistent gastrointestinal upsets such as gas, nausea, and indigestion

 frequency and/or urgency of urination in the absence of an infection;
unexplained weight gain or weight loss

pelvic and/or abdominal swelling, bloating and/or feeling of fullness;
 ongoing unusual fatigue;
 unexplained changes in bowel habits.

If symptoms persist for more than 2 weeks, ask your doctor for a combination pelvic/rectal exam,
CA-125 blood test, and trans-vaginal ultrasound.

A Pap Test WILL NOT detect ovarian cancer.
