Indian made no secret that the new Dark Horse would be built on the same platform as the rest of the air-cooled big-bore beasts. Still, the silhouette of the new machine introduces indeed a different vibe. The 2016 Chief Dark Horse drops almost all the shiny chrome and bling, and bringing forth black engine and engine case paint, black rims and a lighter build.

The 2016 Dark Horse was designed primarily as a solo machine, but you can add room for a passenger by installing a rear seat and pegs. The engine is the same Thunder Stroke 111 unit, the 1,811cc v-twin cylinders produce just over 73 hp at 4,500 rpm.
The new Indian sports true dual exhaust, ABS, cruise control, top-notch fuel injection, a comprehensive single-gauge dash loaded with telltale light indicators, an analog speedo and a LCD screen.

The year-round location, which will be completed in time for this year’s 75th rally, will be the official Harley-Davidson destination for riders and fans alike.

Sturgis: Baked into the bricks of Harley-Davidson
To ensure the new multi-purpose space builds on the legacy of the brand and is pure Harley-Davidson, the plaza will integrate bricks from the company’s Milwaukee headquarters, a building that once housed the company’s factory dating back more than 100 years.
During a news conference at the company’s headquarters, Harley-Davidson announced the planned agreement, which has an initial term and renewals running through 2090. To unveil the deal, Harley-Davidson removed a brick from the historic front entrance using a 2015 Harley-Davidson Street® 750 motorcycle. That brick, alongside one from the Harley-Davidson Museum and 73 bricks from the headquarters’ famous motorcycle-only parking area will be delivered to Sturgis on Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

Mustang Seats created some rumbling around the V-Twin industry when they introduced the lowest, leanest seat in the line-up for Harley-Davidson® Dyna and FL models this past summer. Proudly made in the USA, the new RunAround™ represented a bold look at motorcycle seating without sacrificing Mustang’s legendary reputation for quality. Only one problem — Softail riders wanted the same seat!

“Ask and you shall receive,” says Mustang Marketing Director, Marilyn Simmons. “Mustang’s designers went back to the drawing board and engineered the lowest, leanest solo seat possible for 2000-2015 Harley® standard rear tire Softails.” Actually the fitments for FLSTS 2000-2003, FLSTN 2005-up, FLSTSC 2006-2007 and FLSTC 2007-up were plotted on the CAD-CAM machine, but you get the idea. The controlled density polyurethane foam can be poured a little thinner without compromising the comfort, while making for a much thinner seat pad in the process. Made in-house at Mustang’s historic Three Rivers, MA facility, the exact angle and density of each seat foam panel is formulated and cast to be soft enough for comfort, but resilient enough to retain its shape and structural integrity for years, according to Simmons.
