If you’re looking for a companion to melt your heart, Savannah is for you. She is an adorable female 2-year-old Siberian Husky mix with one brown eye, and one blue!
She has been winning over all of the volunteers with her warm and delightful demeanor, and she’s sure to make you smile. She’s a very happy dog, but does not get overly excited, and is very responsive to praise. She is affectionate and really enjoys being with people.
Savannah is a natural on the leash and needs moderate exercise. Walking with her is a piece of cake since she is more focused on walking with you than exploring on her own. She is obedient, and has great potential to learn commands and already knows how to sit!
This gentle girl would love to find an owner who can give her a quiet and loving place to live. She’s unsure of cats and other dogs, and would need some time to get to know them.
She loves to be pet and cuddled, but this girl needs some time to trust people fully.
Do you think that your home can be a safe haven for Savannah the sweetheart? If so, stop by Animal Friends in Pittsburgh, PA to get to know her!
It’s no coincidence that my name, Puddy, rhymes with “Buddy!” I’m a five-year old brindle boxer and pit bull mix, and I’ve got the best of both breeds. I’m strong, friendly, calm, and…did I mention friendly? To be honest, this kennel life doesn’t agree with me. I was abandoned at a boarding kennel – my owner checked me in when he had to go to the hospital, but he never came back to get me! Then I came to Animal Friends. It isn’t too bad but sometimes I don’t like it when the other dogs all bark at once. I get along pretty well with other animals, but I lived in a nice quiet home for years – that’s what I’m used to! I’m very calm and a great walker. If you want me to slow down or not pull at the leash so much, just let me know! I’m happiest when I’m hanging out with one of my human friends, and I’d love to get a new master, maybe someone who can help me with the diet they’ve put me on. I get along well with kids as long as they don’t want someone jumping up and playing all day – I’m a mature dog and past all that puppy stuff. But hey, if you come on down to Animal Friends, I’ll still give you a great big kiss. Because that’s the kind of dog I am!
Want to play, want to play? Huh, huh? Nitro, a three year old black lab, is a very busy dog and an exuberant player. She loves to chase after things but is still learning to bring the toys back! Nitro is also beautiful. She’s full of wags and wants to be friends! She comes right over to you for as much attention as you can give. Our fenced play yard lets her burn off some of her high energy, so it would be great if her forever home had a fence. Nitro enjoys playing in water too. Nitro’s high energy and great strength makes her better for a family without small children. Or cats, too, as they would become her toys rather than friends! Come check her out at Animal Friends today!
Bob Dylan is such a loving, calm dog. He is so accepting of people and trusts they will love him too. He enjoys attention, hugs and love. Bob came to Animal Friends because he had been abused, but you would never know that for all the love and acceptance he shows.
You also would never know that Bob is a senior boy (he’s a twelve-year-old Beagle/Lab mix). He loves to run around in the play yard. He doesn’t ask for toys — he runs just for the joy of being outside and being able to do so. Yet if you talk him for a walk, he walks beautifully, so calm and comfortable.
It doesn’t stop there. He is good-looking too, mostly white with some dark speckles on his back with tan head and tail. And his eyes are just soft and warm. Come meet our Bob Dylan today at Animal Friends.
editors note, I personally have walked Bob lots of times, he is such a sweet, sweet boy!
People call me Fountain, and here’s why I’m special: ” I’m shy but not aggressive ” I’m happiest among other cats ” I’m a young gal who loves to play Humane agents rescued me from the home of a collector, where I lived with lots of other cats but had minimal human contact. So when I first arrived at Animal Friends, I was terrified of all the people here. But I’m getting braver and more trusting every day. And when I go to my new home, I’ll probably relax in the love and security of my new family. Although I’m shy, that doesn’t mean I’m boring. I can be a lot of fun when I’m playing and especially enjoy pouncing on wiggly string toys. I’m also a fan of kitty treats, but my real passion is catnip! When I dream of my new home, I imagine it to be a comfortable place with patient and kind-hearted adults (small children would frighten me), another nice kitty or two to make me feel secure, and love everywhere. Can you help me make that dream come true? Come visit me at Animal Friends.
Angel’s my name, and finding a Forever Home is my game. I have come back to Animal Friends because the person who adopted me is now in a nursing home and can’t care for me. I was heartbroken when I got here, but I’ve been making a real effort to make friends.
Even though this is my second time around in the shelter, I am not quite used to being in a cage and being taken out for exercise and socialization. I know I want to be petted, but something in me makes me want to squirm at the same time. I do that too when being picked up, but if you don’t want to carry me around all day, we’ll get along great!
I know my maturation is what many people look for in a cat. What I need is someone who will be patient with me until I accept them completely. Being timid is not really a bad thing; with love and patience I’ll come out of my shell and provide my new owner(s) with lots of purrs. And with my great experience, I have learned all the proper cat behaviors such as grooming myself and always using my litter box. Please give me a chance. Come see me At Animal Friends!
I came to Animal Friends with my pals Dylon and Dwight because there were just too many cats in our home. We lived with Labradors. They did not care for us, and I don’t think we liked them either. They have dogs here at Animal Friends, but the nice people who work here make sure they don’t come near us. I enjoy being picked up, and if I do say so myself, I’m the kind of cat who likes following the rules. I enjoy both people and other cats. When it comes to play time, I’ll give you your moneys-worth. I like toys that dangle in front of me, but I haven’t made up my mind about that tiny red dot that moves across the floor-I think I heard someone call it a laser pointer. I did not have any say in the matter at my first home, but could I please put in a request for a quiet home this time around? Really, after those barking Labs, I feel like I need my space. Come see me at Animal Friends!
When you meet T-Bone, he will offer you a Beagle smile and shyly, but surely, try to climb into your lap. This gentle fellow is brimming with affection and simply needs someone to give it to. A couple months ago, T-Bone probably felt like the luckiest, most beloved dog in the world. But then, sadly, his owner passed away. T-Bone came to Animal Friends, 10 years old and hoping to find a second chance and a fresh start. T-Bone is calm, lovable, and simply wants to share your company. He is curious and friendly around other dogs and enjoys peaceful rides in the car. He is crate trained and always polite. But most of all, T-Bone is lovable. He adores people and constantly wants to cuddle. While it’s obvious that he loves all women, we’ve noticed that he is particularly drawn to men. Perhaps they remind him of his Dad, who he misses so much. If you are looking for a companion who’s more interested in cuddling and relaxing than playing, T-Bone could be the one for you. T-Bone is currently in foster care. If you can help a loving and deserving dog, call Animal Friends at 412.847.7002.
You won’t find a prettier or happier-looking dog than Miles which is amazing considering that just months ago, he was rescued from a basement. No one deserves a home more than this friendly, high-energy rottweiler/german shepherd mix. Young, enthusiastic Miles is working on his manners, learning how to interact with other dogs, and would love someone to continue his training in his forever home! You won’t find Miles in the shelter because he has been living with a foster family where he is learning how to be a fun part of the family. He is crate trained, house broken, knows his basic obedience commands and loves to run on a treadmill. If you have an active lifestyle, Miles is the dog for you. Because of his high energy level, Miles is recommended for families with older children. If you would like more information about Miles, please call us at Animal Friends and we will contact his foster parents to meet with you.
You guys remember Bailey, the famous skateboarding bulldog that was lost. His owners have sent in an update pic of him hanging with his best bud “Birdie”, Bailey is safe and happy to be back home!
