Recycled Pets are Priceless!

In an effort to educate the community about the importance of adopting a shelter pet, and find qualified, permanent and loving homes for as many homeless animals as possible, Animal Friends is waiving our requested adoption donation for all pets aged 2 and up between November 26 and December 31!
Recycled Pets are Priceless is made possible in part by a grant from Doris Day and the Doris Day Animal Foundation.
What does this mean?
Animal Friends believes that too many pets in our community are waiting for a lifeline. And, too few people know how important and how meaningful it is to adopt a shelter pet. At a place like Animal Friends, where a resident can live for as long as it takes to find the perfect home, this problem is all the more overwhelming.
So now, in an effort to educate the community about the importance of adopting a shelter pet, and with a goal of finding qualified, permanent and loving homes for as many homeless animals as possible, we are putting our money where our message is: Pet adoption is truly priceless.
Animal Friends invites potential adopters to meet with an Adoption Counselor and complete an adoption application. All adoptions will be thoroughly screened and evaluated in order to ensure appropriate, loving, and lifelong matches. Then, adopters can bask not only in the selfless companionship of their family’s newest member; they can also know that this holiday season, they offered a lifeline to another homeless pet.
So please, make this the year that you consider shelter adoption. Think not just of the wonderful dogs, cats and rabbits who wait at Animal Friends. Think of the hundreds more that so desperately need a second chance to live and love.

STEPH

10 Year old German shepherd
Steph was rescued from a situation where she was neglected, but this has not stopped her from wishing for a loving home in which to spend her golden years.

Steph is a calm dog who loves to be around people. Her handlers recently took her to a Pet Assisted Therapy Visit and described her as phenomenal. She let everyone pet her and gave out kisses. Steph already knows how to sit, and lie down. She loves to play ball and will bring it back as many times as you will throw it. Steph walks great on a leash and seems to get along well with other docile dogs.

If you are a loving family or person who could provide Steph with a loving peaceful adult home where she could spend her golden years, she would be extremely grateful to you. The experience of providing a neglected pooch with the loving family she never had, is unlike anything else you will experience in life. Steph would repay your kindness with unconditional love and friendship. She will even throw in a few of her great kisses if you will let her. If you think you are the family for Steph, she is anxiously awaiting to come home with you. Meet her today at Animal Friends!

DILLINGER

4 year old Domestic shorthair
I was surrendered to Animal Friends because my owner just had too many cats in the house. They tell me that there was an infamous gangster who bore my name, but I can assure you I’m far from being a criminal!
I love to play, but I’ve never been around those little people called children. I’m not sure if I’d like to live with them, so perhaps an adults only home would be best for me.
I’m a domestic short hair, and as you know, all those fashion folk say that “Black goes with everything.” Since I have such easy-to-groom short, hair, I am definitely a low maintenance cat.      Finally, if you are actually bothered by my name, you can change it to something in the law enforcement genre like maybe Elliot or G-Man! Just stop by Animal Friends and meet me today!

CREOLE

9 year old English Springer spaniel mix
Sweet, gentle and lovable is how the staff and volunteers describe Creole. She is a spaniel mix with a soft, silky coat and big, beautiful eyes.
Sadly, Creole came from a home where she lived with 50 other dogs. She isn’t familiar with being handled or receiving much attention from people. Because of her past she is a bit fearful and hesitant, although during her time here she has become more relaxed and trusting.
She has quickly learned how to walk on a leash and really enjoys the fresh air. She is unsure what to do with toys but is hoping her new family can teach her how to have fun and play. She looks so forward to being part of a family where she is loved and cared for and will reward you with lots of love and affection in return.
Creole would like to find a forever home that is quiet, with older children and one that has another dog. If you have room in your heart and home for this little darling, stop by the Adoption Desk at Animal Friends and arrange to meet her.

BODIE BO

You won’t find a friendlier or happier dog than our Bodie Bo, a seven year old male Keeshond mix! What’s amazing is that he keeps up that sunny disposition despite having lost a leg to a trap when he was a puppy. But don’t worry – he won’t slow down for anyone and he loves his afternoon walks. Once he’s in the house, however, he’s a big cuddler and wants nothing more than to sit on the couch with you. You Have to come meet Bodie Bo today at Animal Friends!

PETROLIA

Playing is absolutely my favorite activity and I would never trade it for anything else in the world! Besides playing I love lettuce, carrots, and parsley. I like to be petted, and best of all I like to be held! I enjoy bonding with my caretakers, especially when they pet my fur and speak softly to me. You can tell me stories if you like! Stories about rabbits that are living in their forever homes, stories about the wild, and stories about bunnies that have been rescued and saved from danger are my favorites!
As I have mentioned- I love to play, and I hope that soon I will have a loving family that will play with me all day long!  Please come meet me at Animal Friends Today!

TOMMY

6 year old male boxer mix
Hi there! My name is Tommy. I’m a 6-year-old boxer mix, neutered, and up to date on all of my vaccines!
Another shelter brought me to Animal Friends in September, and boy am I glad they did! I love all of the volunteers here and am very affectionate. I especially love when they take me on car rides to the park! The perfect day for me would include a car ride to the park where I could romp and play with lots of other dogs and chase the occasional chipmunk.
I’m pretty strong though, so Animal Friends would like to see me go home with a family that has older children, ages nine and above. I also love toys, especially rope ones. I could occupy myself all day just gnawing on a rope toy. I’ll need to go home with a family that can provide me with lots of exercise and stimulation. I hope you will stop in at Animal Friends to meet with me and an adoption counselor if I sound like the dog for you!

STRAYA

2 year old female domestic shorthair
I recently arrived from another shelter At first I was shy and scared and not a bit happy about my new surrondings. Over time I adjusted and I recently moved into one of the free roam rooms where I live with 9 other cats. I think I would prefer to be an only cat because I tend to be jealous and want all the visitor attention for myself. I love laser pointers and I hope that my new family has one at their house and maybe a couple of treats. If you’re in the neighborhood stop by and see me at Animal Friends. I would love to make your house a home.

FORSYTHE

1 year old female
Forsythe is a shy but sweet cat who was returned to Animal Friends because of a personality conflict with another cat.

Having lived with both young kids and adults, Forsythe could fit into a variety of families, but would prefer a quiet household. She is initially shy, but with time and patience, she will gain trust and love her new family. When she is comfortable with her surroundings, you’ll see that she enjoys chasing toys and using her cardboard scratcher.

Forsythe is sure that the perfect home is out there for her. Maybe you could be the match for her!  Stop by Animal Friends today!

BLACKBERRY

10 year old female shorthair
Hi there! My name is Blackberry. Strawberry and I were left out in the Animal Friends parking lot. We don’t think we did anything wrong and we definitely don’t think that we deserved to be abandoned! Being mature cats, we are old enough to know the rules and we still have a lot of love and affection to give. We don’t necessarily have to be adopted together, but we would really like the chance to go to our new forever home together. If you’re looking for a pair of calm and mature cats, you can’t go wrong with us! You’ll see come by and meet us at Animal Friends today!
