Polly Needs a Home

Like many pit bulls, I feel that I’m a little misunderstood. Everyone here at Animal Friends says that I’m such a sweetheart, but it makes me a little sad to see all of my friends move on to their forever homes while I’m still waiting here.
I can’t figure out why. I love to run outside and play, and I could chase toys and balls in the yard all day long. But I’d like relaxing with you as well! As a stray, I’ve definitely got a harder learning curve; I’m still working on my potty training and I sometimes get too excited and tug and pull at the leash. So I’m looking for someone who’s willing to take charge, probably with older children if they have any.

We urge you to adopt!

Did you know about 90 percent of puppies sold in a pet store come from puppy mills? Do you know anything about puppy mills?
Puppy mills are not only exploitive, they are cruel and abusive high volume production breeders.  As the name implies, these are factories that turn out dogs. The breeding parents are kept in perpetual servitude and inhumane conditions.
Volume isn’t the only mark of exploitation. Many pure breeds have genetic defects associated with them as a result of inbreeding over generations for a particular look.
Breeders are exploitive when they don’t test for these genetic flaws before mating their animals and perpetuate defects like deafness, crippling hip problems, blindness, etc. Also, anyone who breeds dogs that can’t give birth without a C-section, as is the case with some pug lines, is exploitive.
The real guilt in all this, however, belongs with the pet trade that perpetuates these and other practices that cause so much suffering to animals and contribute to the national shame of millions of homeless pets dying in shelters each year. Please if considering your next pet, adopt!

Inspecting lighting

Once we realized how important it was to be inspecting our  bikes and vehicles in order to pay  attention to what it was telling us, we made up a little routine of things to look at before going for a ride.
 Checking over the lighting is one of them. It’s important to make sure  turn signals, brake and headlights are all working before  starting to interact with traffic. So check all your lighting to make sure all’s good.  If you have a burnt bulb your owners and service manual will have a part number listed for replacement.  Using the shop manual is what makes self-maintaining your machines possible.  Change any bulbs that are burnt out. You might find that your brake light is not working but your bulb is good.  If thats the case, the next place to check is the brake switches. The front brake switch is in the handlebar controls (on a motorcycle) and the rear is a switch wired into the rear brake line. Eliminate which is not working, front or rear brake switch and re-place the switch.
The part number for your model will be listed in your parts book. If you don’t have a parts book the salesman at the parts counter can hook you up if you have your model and year handy.  If you have a horn on your bike you might as well take advantage of it and make sure it’s working. It’s nice to have the option to blast a warning to one of those idiots creeping out of a drive-way that for sure doesn’t see you, go ahead and blast the horn to give them a heads up  your out there. The horn works well for that.  It takes just a few seconds to make sure all the lighting on your bike/vechicle is working properly, so be sure to take the time to do it.

Jesse James & Pup Cinnabun reunited!

After three weeks of a desperate search for his beloved pit bull, Jesse James Tweeted today that he and CinnaBun have been reunited.
Along with a photo of Cinnabun putting her paws up to his chest in a happy greeting, James posted this message: “So Happy! Thnx Everyone for all the help! She looks like she hz had quite the Adventure!”
James had hired a pet detective and offered a reward of $5,000 for the dog’s return. According to TMZ, the West Coast Choppers honcho got a call from someone who had seen CinnaBun’s picture on a flier. The woman brought CinnaBun to James’s Long Beach bike shop, where upon sight of the long-lost pooch, the crew started crying.  We know how helpless you can feel when a beloved pet is missing, glad this episode had a happy ending for Jesse and Cinnabun.
