David Uhl’s fifth addition to his “Vintage Pin Up” series “The Liberator”.

In David’s words, “This particular piece in the series of Pin Up cheese cake has to do with Harley-Davidson’s campaign involving the military.  I liked their thinking on this one…… saluting the troops and all.  My version actually involves the odd WWII flathead called the “Liberator”.
It wasn’t the most attractive bike having every surface painted flat green, but it was historically accurate, down to the Thompson automatic machine gun. I wanted to do a classic Elvgrin  pose straight from the 40’s involving some unsuspecting beauty getting her skirt caught on some prop…absolutely cheese-ball but nevertheless effective for our viewing enjoyment. I would like to thank Aubrey for the insanity we put her through to get her in that pose, Tobie Orr for the make up and costume, John Mueller for some great photographic work and Stukie D for the optimization of the composition.
“The Liberator” is available in a very limited canvas print release and collectors of the rest of the series have first right of refusal for their matching numbers. Contact Greg Rhodes for more information 303-913-4840 or visit uhlstudios.com

I

PRECIOUS

After a rough adjustment, Precious has quickly become one of our favorites here at Animal Friends. This sweet little cat will come up to you and show her affection by rubbing against you and giving you long deep purrs. She is great with using both the scratching post and litterbox and loves to spend her days watching everything going on outside the window. She even gets along with the family dog! All it takes is a little bit of love. Please visit Animal Friends to learn more about taking her home!

Initial Spring Fire Up

When it’s time to bring your bike back out of storage and take it for that first spring ride start by putting your bike into first gear, disengage the clutch and push the bike back and forth a few times. This will insure the clutch is working properly and you won’t have to worry about the bike moving at initial start up.  Make sure your battery is fully charged and place it back in the bike if you had it removed for charging, or just disconnect your quick connect battery charger. Remove and inspect spark plugs, change if needed. Clean out your air filter, you’d be surprised what can find it’s way in your air cleaner over the storage months. Inspect your tires, make sure you have plenty of “meat” left on them and check your air pressure, fill with air if needed. You can find your air pressure listed on your frame or in your service manual. Inspect your lighting (high and low beam and turn signals and brake light) and horn, make sure all is working properly. Start the engine and let it reach normal running temperature.  Check all fluid levels and fill if needed.  Be safe out there on the road. Drivers aren’t used to seeing motorcycles on the road and they are distracted themselves those first few warm days. It’s their first ride with the windows down, music playing loud and lets face it, cell phones….  Also pay attention to the debris still in the road, you’ll find a lot of sand and salt at intersections and on the side of the road still.  Have fun and Be safe!

“Average Joe Complacency Syndrome” by: Angela Arpin

Pseudo intellectuals and misinformed observers, you are all just baby birds with your beaks wide open, longing to be fed regurgitated psycho babble.
“Supposed” misunderstood emotional vagrants.
Partly out of boredom,I have decided to coin a new term in psychology~but I will get to that in a moment. Freud I am not~however,I do not need to snort a line
or two of coke to have an understanding of the world.
Personally, I think that society puts too much stock into diagnoses and disorders. In the sense that, the labeling as “disorders” is completely assuming,i.e. under the assumption and above the suspicion that the order is entirely intact, and hasnt segmented into other “disorders.” I see many flaws in the social model-def:(systemic barriers, negative attitudes and exclusion by society (purposely or inadvertently)are the ultimate factors defining who is disabled and who is not in a particular society)and who thrives upon it.
Now for the long awaited revelation. New term:”Average Joe Complacency Syndrome”-an accute case of dementia attributed to a failure to understand
oneself and others. Disabling emotive capacity and replacing it with complacency and confusion, resulting in a loss of internal drive and self awareness. Also known as the “Mediocracy Syndrome”(another term I’ve coined, which personally~I would rather die than suffer from).
Subjects with said disorder(s) are known to often lack ethics due to greed and insecurity. Subjects often discredit relativity and perspectivism or social compromise, due to hypocracy and the failure to observe themselves and their surroundings. Failure to see that they are,for lack of a better way to phrase it-(insert expletive of choice here) morons.
“Symptoms” include:fear of aging, unquenched thirst for power, addiction, social hierarchy, homophobia, ostracism, loss of motivation, heightened faith in religion, and not taking responsibility for their own actions.
This disorder often leads to self destructive behavior,(after their “illness” destroys everyone around them that is)-which is why I believe arrogant (again insert expletive of your choice) shall one day (directly or indirectly) end the world. (which I still havent decided would necessarily be a “bad” thing).
So basically what I’m saying is,”Joe Schmo”(a guy that I am sure you know)-that joyfully chugs his beers in his stained white wife beater shirt, that verbally and/or physically abuses his wife and/or girlfriend,is a homophobe, believes that a womans place is in the kitchen,is starved for power, doesnt strive to make improvements to his life, believes everything he hears on the news, etc. will be the downfall of civilization as we know it.

Please take me home?

How do you do! I’m Vanessa, one of the ladies here at Animal Friends. I always take treats gently, respond to scratches and cuddles, and I never bark (unless it’s an emergency). It’s just so rude! I’m still a little panicky when it comes to going into my crate or traveling in the car. But I’ve been getting better and I’d love to continue my training with a loving and very patient person. I think I deserve a little happiness…maybe you can help me find it. Please visit Animal Friends to learn more about me.

iPhone driver safety application

Need some help keeping it under the speed limit?
Check this out from AsafeDrive…
this slick little devise is aimed at helping people maintain their car speed within the legal speed limit, as well as promoting a hands-free environment in the car.
the release of the new 3.0 version for their highly-innovative mobile platform device is now available within the Apple App Store within iTunes or at www.asafedrive.com. The 3.0 version is priced at mce_marker.99 with all of the newest bells and whistles. This one-of-a-kind application is driving GPS technology to the next level by eliminating unnecessary speeding tickets as well as reducing the number of accidents that occur each year as a result of speeding. The unique app has recently been upgraded and though previously it specifically aimed to help commuters maintain vehicle speeds within legal limits throughout the Los Angeles area, the 3.0 version can now be used worldwide. The upgraded version is now updated with new speed limits daily in which users can input to be reviewed and approved by ASafeDrive staff. The upgrade also includes a viewable map screen that will tell you how fast your vehicle is moving in relation to the current area speed limit.

”Today, speed-limit signs are often times misleading and hard to see, making driving a personal peril,” reveals entrepreneur Alex BenBassat, who designed ASafeDrive after purchasing the very first generation of Apples iPhone. “For the first time on any mobile platform, ASafeDrive gives drivers the necessary information to be able to stay within the safe legal driving limits. There is no other iPhone app that shows two pieces of information simultaneously on one screen: the speed limit of the street and the speedometer.”

The application has rightfully taken its place as one of the only speed-limit programs that utilize GPS POI Data (Street Data) as well as reverse geo-coding with Google Maps. The application’s full-screen, easy-to-read interface shows the commuter’s current driving speed in accordance with his car speedometer and compares it to the accurate street-limit data of his current location.

The application stands apart from a standard speedometer found within the vehicle as ASafeDrive™ displays colors from green to red in line with the driver’s current vehicle speed, thus keeping drivers’ eyes on the road and their acceleration within legal limits. The customizable program allows users to change the settings in the application to access a number of different warnings once the current speed limit is exceeded.

ASafeDrive 3.0 features:

A large, easy-to-read interface displaying automobile speed using GPS and the speed limit of that street.
Color-changing speedometer with customized warnings (visual, vibrate, or sound).
The ability for users to input speed limits into the program’s online database.
Ability to leave speed limit feedback that will be incorporated into the content of ASafeDrive’s blog at: http://asafedrive.com/blog.
Worldwide Speed Limit Access.
Daily updates via ASafeDrive and the ability for users to input speed limits
A map screen that will tell you how fast your vehicle is moving in relation to the current area speed limit.

Nice Job Limpnickie!

The Limpnickie Lot held it’s first ever food drive and it was a huge success in Daytona Beach! They were able to donated a grand total of $550.00 to the Second Harvest Food Bank.
The crew chose to spend the first hundred dollars at the local Food Loin store to add to the bins, which was a total of 140 lbs of non perishable food. They then proceeded to write a few checks totaling $450.00 to the Second Harvest Food Bank.
“With Second Harvest of Central Florida’s buying power equates to $4050.00 dollars worth of food. That in turn will feed 83 families of four for 4 days. We really appreciate you thinking of us and starting this program. You have made a lot of needy families happy.”
We love when our peeps do something good to help others out! If your in a position to help someone out, offer it up, because the reward is all yours, something you can’t feel any other way!
