SAN DIEGO – San Diego’s most famous therapy dog lost his certification and his therapy team partner is furious.

Chopper the Biker Dog has visited thousands of people in hospitals, schools and senior living centers up and down the West Coast. Chopper has been certified by Pet Partners since he began working as a therapy dog five years ago.

His therapy partner and owner, Mark Shaffer, said he learned Pet Partners suspended Chopper’s certification after the two returned from an 11-day trip to Eugene, Oregon. They stopped at VA hospitals and police departments every day along the trip.

”Disbelief,” said Shaffer. “There was anger and there was a lot of hurt.”
Pet Partners told Shaffer the certification was suspended because it did not approve of Chopper’s biker outfit. Chopper wears a leather vest and a bandana.

”They claim they don’t allow dogs in costumes. This is not a costume,” explained Shaffer. “This is his persona. This is what he is.”

Avon Tyres announced a new road hazard warranty program offering free replacement of any new tire (excluding non-D.O.T. approved race tires) for accidental, puncture or impact damage.

How many pairs of black boots do you own?  Yea, me too, more than I need, so when I took a peek at the Grace boot in beige by Harley-Davidson Footwear, well it was easy to justify adding to my overgrown boot collection. After all, I don’t own a pair of boots this color.    I spent a few weeks testing this boot out, ya know, put through the rigors of the activities I enjoy.  Spent time walking, riding, chasing dogs, shooting firearms and just hanging out next to a bonfire. At first the boot was a little rigid, but it literally was broken in within hours and felt like I had been wearing this boot for a few months.  The fit was perfect and the comfort was spot on.  I totally dig the cushion sock lining and the grip of this boot.  When I walk, I sometimes get distracted and find myself cruising off road on a nearby trail. It’s official!  A new motorcycle racing competition will throw dirt June 4 during the inaugural Harley-Davidson® Flat-Track Racing at ESPN’s X Games Austin. Harley-Davidson sponsored two flat-track exhibitions last year, and thousands of fans took to social media to express their excitement for the sport.

“This June, fans in Austin will experience a new kind of action sport as they watch top athletes in flat- track race for gold,” said Dino Bernacchi, Director U.S. Marketing, Harley-Davidson Motor Company. “Words can’t explain the rush of watching these athletes riding within inches of each other, kicking up dirt and carving through corners. It’s pure adrenaline-charge action.”
The inaugural race is an invitational format, with athletes from around the world receiving the opportunity to be part of the action. The Harley-Davidson XR 750 also joins the field of motorcycles battling for the top podium position at Circuit of The Americas. The gold medalist will be awarded a brand-new Harley-Davidson Street™ 750 motorcycle.
“This is great for our sport,” said Brad Baker, Harley-Davidson Factory Flat-Track team rider, “X Games is about performance, and flat-track racing is the perfect addition to this competition, allowing athletes from around the world to showcase just how they push the boundaries in their sport.”
