The Garage-Girls Ultimate Biker Makeover Carlisle Edition was "Ultimate" to say the least...............

All of us here at Garage-Girls want to thank everyone for submitting their stories for the Makeover, it was tough for us to narrow down to the finalists, we even had a tie so we had to have 4 finalists instead of 3. Out of those 4 with just under 200,000 votes the two winners were chosen, runner up Kristin Buckely of Red Lion PA and grand prize winner Victoria Kriner-Aversano, of Myerstown PA. As the grand prize winner Victoria not only received personal gear, she got hooked up with parts for her ride as well.
We were so happy to do this event at Carlisle Summer Bikefest, our favorite weekend motorcycle rally. Carlisle has so much to offer with factory demo rides, FMX stunt teams performing, the Star Boys displaying extreme riding talent, live bands, eating contests, custom builders, the Rat-Rod revival show, not to mention the vendors and swap meet area. This year Carlisle added to all of that by inviting the Disc-connected K-9's world champion Frisbee dogs, they were awesome, and of course The Garage-Girls Ultimate Biker Makeover..... what a weekend at Carlisle Summer Bike Fest!
This Ultimate Biker Makeover sponsored by GEICO was pretty special for us to put on, having been involved with other bike events that usually support larger charity's and organizations, we wanted to do something where we could help out the average joe or "Jill" in this case! It's an incredible feeling to be able to watch the faces on the people who you just helped out, it's pretty cool to see the effects it has, to watch the smiles grow.
We know Victoria and Kristin were both super excited about the Ultimate Biker Makeover, but we were just as psyched, check out what they won!

Both Victoria and Kristin received personal makeovers, including ICON helmets, riding jackets and gloves, 7 eye riding glasses and HD Footwear riding boots. Both girls also received clothing from Pink Partz, a Wizards bike detail cleaning kit, a technology case from Otterbox and a case of Spectro oil along with a years subscription to IronWorks Magazine and a copy of Sara's Book. Kristen Buckley was also presented with not only a cool luggage bag from T-Bags but also a bag of surprises for her 11-year-old son, Jed, who couldn’t make it to Bike Fest because his leukemia had landed him in the hospital.
For the grand prize, it wasn’t just Victoria who got herself outfitted — her bike got some cool stuff too. The new features included a dyno run by Cycle solutions, new mirrors, grips, levers, pegs and speakers by Kuryakyn. 100 spoke chrome wheels by American Wire wheel wrapped in new rubber, Pirelli Night Dragon tires. A New Mustang seat and some special pinstripe work by Dan Kite. Seeing the finished product was an emotional experience for Victoria, who became slightly tearful as the bike was unveiled and she called the prize "a blessing."
She said the seat and speakers will prove especially handy for playing patriotic music along the long rides she takes as a Patriot Guard Rider attending soldiers’ funerals, as a regional representative for America’s 9/11 Foundation and a volunteer with the non-profit Soldiers’ Angels.
We were disappointed Kristin's son Jed couldn't attend the event, our thoughts were on him throughout the day and we will continue to keep him in our thoughts and prayers. To stay connected to Jed and his journey check out his bog at http://www.bigjedsworld.blogspot.com/.
Thanks again to all our sponsors, especially GEICO, you guys all made this happen, you put those smiles on Victoria and Kristin's faces! |
