My favorite show right now is
Total Body Sculpt with Gilad.
I’m focusing on toning up all my muscle groups and this Gilad guy is making it happen.
He is a fitness expert and has taught viewers how to tone and shape-up with his challenging and innovative routines. FitTV showcases Gilad's popular workouts in a whole new series targeted to women and men. Gilad guides viewers through an invigorating routine that's challenging yet easy to follow. Set in Hawaii, how awesome is that to look at when it’s snowing outside, Gilad demonstrates how the latest techniques and tools can energize your fitness routine.
He weaves the best of strength training, circuit training, cardio bursts, kickboxing and martial arts into a one-of-a-kind routine. Every muscle group is worked and I sure have noticed a difference! Sure I could do these moves on my own in my living room, but there really is something to having an instructor motivate you. I know in my fitness years I have seen better results from listening to an instructor than trying to work on my own. I get too lazy when I’m on my own, it’s too easy to cheat and only do 10 reps instead of 12….
Give it a try, check out fit TV and see what you think, if you have a DVR you defiantly have no excuse for not working out, if the program you want to try is on while your working, Tivo it and do it when you get home. Don’t forget “On Demand” too, if you look under sports you’ll find exercise and lots of shows to work out to right in the comfort of your own home!

Spinning my way into 2008!
January 2008, the time for New Years Resolutions, and we all know what the number one resolution is, weight loss. Why is it so hard to lose weight and why do people fall off the “Get Fit Band wagon so soon? I recently discovered Spinning and would like to introduce you to it if you’re not already familiar with it. This is one fun way to stay in shape and help you reach your fitness goals!
I am a fitness enthusiast, I like to challenge myself, I like sports and I like to be active. I also like to eat good food so exercising is not an option for me it’s a must. For about 3 months now I have been taking Spinning classes at my gym and am thrilled with the fact that you can burn over 500 calories in one hour. Is that amazing or what?
I have to say having an awesome instructor helps. Our class instructor Diane motivates and makes the class enjoyable for all of us. She really wants you to get the most out of the class, sure we’re there to burn calories but as you will learn with spinning it is also designed to help you focus and reduce the stress in your daily life.
Spinning is done on a spinning bike as you pedal, your instructor, (hopefully he or she is as good as my Diane) will take you through a visual ride in the outdoor world. With your feet in the pedal cages, you’re connected to a weighted flywheel on the bike and you control the resistance with a knob. You will have an assortment of terrain to ride on such as open flat roads mixed in with small and steep hill climbs. You’ll want to bring a small towel to class because you’re going to sweat. A water bottle is a must and all of the spinning bikes have a cage for water bottles. Great music is cranking and getting you in the mood and you’ll hear the instructor say things like “ok were heading up this steep hill, give it a little” (meaning turning the resistance knob on your bike to the right to increase the resistance on the flywheel) as the hill gets steeper your encouraged to keep cranking that knob and working towards that goal of reaching the top of the hill, working within specific heart rates and or perceived rate of exertion as suggested by the instructor.
Spinning is great exercise that can help you achieve your fitness goals, it’s fun, and challenging and an incredible workout that helps you focus inwardly and work on your mind as well as your body.
It also offers an awesome aerobic workout that makes your heart pump fast. Although you follow the general instructions of the spinning teacher, you are in control when it comes to your pace. You can finish a spin class, regardless of your fitness level, simply by adjusting your pace or the resistance knob on the bike.
Spinning is more than just a workout, it’s considered to be athletic training incorporating the use of mind/body techniques to enhance performance, including visualization. Visualization uses mental images, as well as deep diaphragmatic breathing (in through the nose-out through the mouth), music and specific points of focus to help you become more aware of how your mind influences physical performance. Through this enhanced awareness, you are able to perform more efficiently and reach your goals sooner. Each journey has direction and purpose, is individually paced and will include a warm up and cool down. At aerobic levels, the body prefers fat for fuel, isn’t this what we all want, to burn the fat! Spinning can help strengthen your heart, lower your resting heart rate and increase stroke volume, which means the heart doesn’t have to beat as often to pump blood throughout the body
.
So if there is a gym near you that offers a spinning class I genuinely encourage you to try it out if you haven’t yet. Getting in shape should be about reaching goals within your mind and body and spinning is an awesome way to get there!
